My husband told me that our son wanted an ATV. I think he told me in private because he already knew how I would feel about this. I have said in the past that I think they are dangerous because of all the accidents I have heard where children were either hurt or killed because they did not follow proper safety procedures. My husband told me that he was in support of it mainly because of how cautious our son is. I had to agree that our son was always being careful. Then my husband told me that our son had already looked at ATV accessories and safety equipment such as helmets just so I would know that he was being no different with this. I realized our son is growing up and he is more than capable of taking care of himself. I also know he won’t make stupid choices just to impress his friends, so I guess he will be getting that ATV after all.

The main reason people prefer trekking in the mountains or wilderness is to avoid urban civilization and the stress that comes with it. Other than moving from one destination to the other, people trek to see nature and sights and also meet people. It is therefore an experience with nature combined with a final destination in mind. However, for a successful and satisfying trekking experience, one should have survival skills such as swimming, mountain and/or rock climbing necessary for the different kinds of terrain that may be encountered. These are also important just to ensure one enjoys the natural challenges that are part of the trekking adventure before getting to the final destination while appreciating the beauty and perils of the mountains and wilderness. For those who do not possess these skills, the services of an experienced hiker can be engaged to help one prepare for the trip otherwise it would be dangerous and even life threatening to travel without the necessary skills.
