If you aren’t a water sports fan, odds are, you have no idea what towable tubes are. These tubes are much like any inflatable tube you would float on in the pool or on a lake. The difference is that these tubes are designed to be towed behind a motor boat, in the same way water skis are. The person holds on tight or sits in a specially designed seat in the tube as the boat accelerates, and they’re in for a fun ride. Of course, as with any sport, there need to be safety precautions taken. These are actually inflatable tubes; meaning that they can pop if they are snagged on something or come into contact with the boat’s motor. Life vests should be worn by all passengers of the towable tube in case they fall off or the tube flips over. The boat should never go too fast; most towable tubes will list a maximum safe speed, and this should be followed.
